O avast! antivírus Professional Edition recebeu o prémio Gold Malware Treatment, do portal russo Anti-Malware.ru , pela sua eficiência na detecção e reomoção de vírus e de outras infecções por malware, sem causar danos ao sistema operativo do computador. Na avaliação de 15 antivírus de renome, em Outubro 2008, o avast! ficou 2º lugar e foi o um dos únicos dois antivírus capaz de remover ambas as infecções de rootkits usadas no teste.

Avast topped the latest AV Comparatives analysis of antivirus programs with a mix of speed and accuracy. Avast had the fastest scan time of the 16 tested programs. avast! Professional Edition received another VB100 Award from the Virus Bulletin, an independent testing body. The test focused this month on the Windows Vista Business Editon platform.

Os testes levados a cabo pela AV-Comparatives durante Fevereiro foi limitado aos 17 produtos antivírus globais mais conhecidos, que já se tinham saído bem em testes anteriores. Este round de testes utilizou critérios muito mais duros mas, mesmo assim, o avast! foi avaliado como "Avançado".

De acordo com o relatório da AV-Comparatives, "uma boa taxa de detecção é a característica mais importante e de maior confiança num produto antivírus." Com uma taxa de detecção acima de 98%, o avast! ficou posicionado entre os produtos líderes pela sua capacidade de detecção de vírus malware, alguns deles famosos produtos pagos. Além disso ficou em 3º lugar na velocidade de verificação de todos os produtos testados.

Os resultados dos testes mostram que ao longo do tempo o avast! antivírus mantém a sua consistência e ultrapassa muitos dos líderes de mercado antivírus pagos. Os detalhes completos podem ser vistos no AV-Comparatives website.

Este mês o avast! Home Edition foi também votado a "Melhor Apostat", entre as ferramentas de segurança gratuitas, pela PCWorld magazine.

February, 2009 - the Virus Bulletin test focused this month on the Linux platform. According to the Virus Bulletin report, avast! for Linux , which was developed specifically for the Linux platform, displayed excellent scanning speeds (both on access and on demand), and detection rates were at their usual exemplary level. avast! for Linux detected all viruses on the Wild List with no false positives and it has received the first VB100 Award in 2009.

Agosto, 2008 - este mês os testes do Virus Bulletin focaram-se no Windows XP Service Pack 3. Mais uma vez, o avast! 4 Professional Edition detectou todos os virús In-The-Wild (i.e. virús que se espalham entre utilizadores) além de mais de 97% dos Trojanos sem resultados de falsos positivos,  como tal atribuímos mais um prémio VB100!

A companhia independente AV-Comparatives fez uma série de testes em Agosto 2008 que compararam a performance de 16 dos produtos antivírus mais famosos do mundo. O avast! antivírus saiu bem em todos os testes, ficando em 3º lugar na detecção de detecção de vírus para Windows, Macros, Worms e Scripts, à frente de outros produtos bem conhecidos, e em 4º lugar na taxa de detecção geral. February, 2008 - In the latest Virus Bulletin tests (February, 2008, Windows 2003 Server) avast! 4 Server Edition again detected all ItW viruses (i.e. viruses known to be 'in the wild') and was given another VB100% award!
